Sometimes I forget how much fun I can have with machine embroidery. I’m working on a project I’ve wanted to stitch for a few years now and I’m loving it! It’s an OESD tiled collection called Modern Petals. Tiled collections are unique in that you stitch a number of small patches, called tiles. Then, you stitch them together in a particular order to form a larger scene. I love this idea because it breaks the finished wall hanging into small, manageable pieces and somehow it seems easier than tackling a large project.
The Modern Petals collection is a bit different than other tiled designs because it isn’t creating a typical scene. The colorful tiles go together to create a series of abstract flowers. As the name says, the finished piece has a modern look to it and I find really appealing. Click here to see this and other tile collections at embroideryonline.com
Take a look at this short video to see how pretty and fun the designs are. I’ll share the completed project as soon as I finish stitching! While you’re there (YouTube), subscribe to my channel so you’ll know when I post more videos.
I bought this embroidery package several years ago and have not yet stitched it. I like your fabric choices…adding additional depth to each tile. What fabric line is that? You are inspiring me to get going on this!
Hi Jeanne –
I’m using Grunge fabrics by Moda – my favorite! (https://modafabrics.com/tags/moda-grunge). I use them everywhere because they seem much more interesting than a solid and they come in lots of colors! This has been on my to-do list for a long time, too. Am so happy I am finally getting to it. I’d love to see a photo of yours when you finish it.
Happy Stitching!
Susan
