I love to hear from my online students, and I recently received an email from Mary Ellen, one of the students in my Sew Vintage course. My courses are designed to be instructive but just as important, I want my students to enjoy the classes and just have fun!
Here’s what Mary Ellen had to say:
I enjoyed Susan Beck’s Sew Vintage Mixed Media Art Quilt course. As someone who has been sewing for over 60 (!) years and also loves to scrapbook, I learned a great deal. I was apprehensive at first about sewing on paper, but Susan took all the stress out of the process and made it fun! I loved working with new mixed media materials and challenging myself to use a variety of presser feet that I don’t often use. The online experience was great, I was able to start and stop the video as I needed to and repeat any parts I wanted to see again. Throughout the lessons, I was inspired to add some personal touches which makes each person’s quilt a personal work of art. I highly recommend this course, in fact, I recommended it to my sister who is also a quilter! ~ Mary Ellen
Mixed Media Fun
Mary Ellen also sent a photo. One of the things I love about teaching is seeing the finished projects. Something that I designed looks so familiar to me but almost always, there are added elements or something done differently that makes the project unique to the student. The first thing I saw when I looked at the photo was the beautiful blue elements. The blue color added contrast to the vintage colors and just made the whole quilt more interesting.
