As I write this post, it is summer and I am in very sunny, very warm Florida. So why am I writing about snow? I want to show you a cute, whimsical snowman created by felting wool roving onto a wool felt background. Click the image below for a short little video that shows how it is done.

Felting is a fun fiber technique that anyone can do – it doesn’t take a lot of practice to get the hang of it. The BERNINA Needle Punch Set used to make this snowman has three barbed needles that push the fiber down into the background fabric. The more you punch, the more you enmesh the fibers into the fabric, almost like painting on canvas. You can use felting as an embellishments on all kinds of projects – journal covers, pillows, jackets, scarves, and more! If you want to know more about needle punch, click here to see a post I did for the BERNINA website, WeAllSew.

I like warm weather and I like snowy weather, but both in small doses. How about you – what is your favorite type of weather?
