I’m always looking for good sewing books and I have an entire bookcase room full of them. I currently have two favorites, one that I’ve had for a while and one that is new. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that these are BERNINA books and as the editor of each of them, I’m a bit biased. I highly recommend both of these the next time you want to curl up with a good book…or two.
The Big Book of Feet
As you may have guessed, The Big Book of Feet focuses on presser feet. You’ll love reading about the full line of BERNINA feet and accessories, learning how to use them. It covers the design of the feet and step-by-step directions for specific techniques for each one. Click here to see a post on the BERNINA blog, We All Sew, about The Big Book of Feet.
The Big Book of Embroidery
The latest big book was introduced at the BERNINA convention earlier this month. The Big Book of Embroidery is a comprehensive book on machine embroidery from selecting designs to editing them and then stitching beautiful motifs. It goes beyond the basics, including techniques such as in-the-hoop projects, quilting techniques and four methods of machine embroidered applique. Both of these books are full of beautiful inspirational photos. You’ll also find complete directions for both practical and creative sewing and embroidery techniques. Information charts throughout each book give machine settings for each foot, needle and thread details and other helpful information.
I know you’ll love these books, which include BERNINA-specific information along with general material that applies to all sewing and embroidery machines. Both of these books are available at your local BERNINA store. Click here to find a store near you.
